This beautiful photo is of our Horse of the Month for July, Flame, with her owner Suzanne. Flame is 28 and her owner Suzanne asked her vet to test for Equine Cushing’s disease because of Flame’s age, and because it had always been difficult to keep Flame’s pot belly down. 20% of horses over 15 will have Cushing’s and Flame’s blood test was positive for this condition. Since her diagnosis Flame has been treated with medication for Equine Cushing’s disease and we’re delighted to hear that she is doing really well on this. Suzanne is pleased that Flame’s no longer such a fatty, and she’s clearly still a cheeky happy pony! Thanks so much for sharing her story with us Suzanne ?
